In Biblical times, it was known that only God could cleanse a person from Leprosy. Hidden away in God’s Law was a lengthy procedure that the priests would perform, if and when God cleansed the leper. The only problem was that this law was not performed in the Old Covenant times. God then used this law of the leper to help reveal the Messiah.
All the way from the beginning, the first sabbath of rest from work was just a placeholder – kept in place until the time that Jesus would die, and then the last sabbath would occur on earth.
