Jesus Christ went through extreme pressures in the Garden of Gethsemane for you!
“Gethsemane” means “oil press.” This area called the Garden of Gethsemane contains many olive trees around. This became a fitting picture of how Jesus went through the “pressure” to have to pay for your sins. He knew He would die a painful death on a cross by Himself.
In the first garden – the Garden of Eden:
- the 1st Adam had a problem
- Adam was a son to God
- he was given God’s Words
- he ended up rebelling against the will of his Heavenly Father
- Adam and Eve ended up giving in to the temptation of the devil
- they fell to sin
- the earth became cursed
- and now every human was born as a sinner
In this last garden – the Garden of Gethsemane:
- Jesus is the 2nd and last “Adam” – as Paul wrote about
- Jesus also had a problem – your problem! The problem of having to get rid of your sins
- like Adam – Jesus is a Son of God. But this Jesus is the only person born without sin
- Jesus was given the Father’s Words – and His Will
- Jesus obeyed the will of the Father
- Jesus was tempted by the devil – but He never gave in. Jesus never sinned
- Jesus became a curse for our sin
- and now, all who receive Jesus as Savior for their sins are born again!
