In this message, we move from Mark’s account of this story, to seeing what Matthew recorded about the same event (Matthew 19:10-12). We see that as the story unfolds, we journey into the realm of what we can call single living.
If singles and married couples are to build a Christ-centered marriage, it is mandatory for them to 1st: see God’s Marriage Picture of Jesus Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:32), 2nd: copy God’s examples, and then 3rd: build these things into their lives.
In this message, we start to take a peek at some of the basic components that singles can begin to build into their lives. Obviously, this series can’t cover everything, however, we’ll see some of the basic components that all single and married Christians can implement so that their lives can better glorify God.
We begin with your life’s #1 main need. It’s also the #1 main need in order to have a Christ-centered marriage, and that is to develop and keep a sensitive heart with the Lord, as we learn how to hear and obey Him. Since divorces happen because of hard hearts (Mark 10:5), singles can safeguard and prepare for their marriage even before it begins, by spending time daily with Jesus. Married individuals must learn to spend time with Jesus daily as well, in order to protect and strengthen their marriages. Getting and keeping a heart sensitive to Jesus becomes key for your marriage health! Every Christian can start on this today, and develop this daily!
The picture God illustrates for us to see is the picture of Mary at the feet of Jesus (Luke 10:38-42). All Christians can copy this example and build this into their daily lives.
