In 2 Corinthians 12, the Apostle Paul writes about a “thorn in the flesh” that was given to him to keep him humble as he was allowed heavenly revelations. Though the exact nature of the thorn remains unknown—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—it served a divine purpose: to remind Paul that God’s grace is sufficient and that the power of God is made perfect in weakness.
This passage teaches every believer that a trial is not a punishment from God. Rather, a blessed gift in disguise and opportunity for spiritual growth. Our human weaknesses become the place where God’s strength, power, and grace shine brightest. When we surrender our pain and pride, Christ works through us.
So whether your “thorn” is physical, emotional, mental or spiritual let’s remember: God wants to use it to draw you close and to keep you close to Him. He’s training you to depend fully upon God.
