Law Leads to Christ

Galatians 3:24 says, “Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” This verse precisely pinpoints the purpose of the Law and how it leads us into the saving grace of Jesus Christ. The Law was not given to make us righteous, but to reveal our sin and our need for a Savior.

The Law can never lead you to grace; the Law can only lead you Messiah Jesus, the giver of grace.

In the Old Testament, the law acted as a spiritual teacher—a schoolmaster pointing humanity toward God’s holiness. Today, we can say the Law is a tutor or babysitter. Every command we break reminds people that perfect obedience was impossible. The Law set the standard of righteousness which can only be found through Jesus Christ, but it also exposes our sins and shortcomings. The Law prepares the way for Christ by showing that salvation could never come through works, but only through faith in Jesus Christ and His works.

When Jesus came, He fulfilled Torah totally! Through His death and resurrection, He offered the forgiveness of sins and freedom from the guilat and condemnation the law brings. Now, believers are justified by faith in Christ, and never by keeping the Law! God’s Law still has value today—it teaches us God’s moral truths and reveals God’s character—but the Law no longer condemns those who are in Christ, as we now follow Jesus as our Lord.

For anyone struggling with guilt, performance, or the weight of Legalism, Galatians 3:24 offers great hope through Jesus. The Law leads us to Christ, and Christ leads us to His grace, mercy and love. Whereas the Law exposes your sins, God’s grace covers you. Where the Law demands strict 100% perfection, Christ gives you His righteousness and grace.

We must all repent and come to Jesus, to be justifed by faith. There we will find freedom, forgiveness, and eternal life through faith in Jesus as Messiah, Savior and Lord of our lives!
